Welcome Back from Winter Break!

Dear McMichael Supporters,

Welcome back to school after what we hope was a wonderful and restful Christmas Break spent with family and friends. The second half of the school year is an exciting yet challenging time of the year. Many activities will be gearing up for that final push towards greatness such as Model United Nations and  our UIL Academic Events. Basketball for both our girls and boys is in full swing with track season being just around the corner. Most importantly staff and students will once again be actively engaged in teaching and learning. We are excited about the educational challenges that lie ahead of us and know you will continue to assist us in our efforts to make McMichael Middle School and Nacogdoches ISD the best it can possibly be.

This spring our teachers will continue to plan and individualize lessons, classes and remediation for our students through Professional Learning Communities. These PLCs are when teachers come together to look at student performance and share ideas with each other to improve their instruction. Our teachers take the profession of teaching very seriously and strive to become truly professional teachers. We will continue to use our advisory time to remediate those students that have gaps that need to be filled. Our teachers will continue to offer before and after school tutorials and before long we will begin our extended day activities for those that still need additional assistance.

Again I would like to welcome everyone back and for each of you to know that our first priority can be summed up in the words of Maria Montessori, “…the adult must recognize that he and she must take second place, endeavor all they can to understand the child, and to support and help him in the development of his life. This should be the aim of mother, father, teacher…”, we strive to ensure that the children are at the center of everything we do.
