It all started with a passion to serve the community and a bedroom full of children’s books
McMichael Middle School eighth-grader Jailynn Sayler returned to Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary, her former school, on April 25. She brought with her over 200 books for the school’s library.
The donation is part of the “Take Time to Read” program, sponsored by the International Order of Rainbow for Girls – an organization Sayler is a member of. She created the service project to promote reading and literacy to children.
“I have observed that the students really like owning books,” said BQJ librarian Betty Sanders. “This donation is a way to get books in the hands of students to take home.” She went on to say the donation is “fantastic” and will benefit the school.
